Blair wrestler Hudson Loges won both his Greco-Roman and freestyle brackets last weekend during the USA Wrestling Kids Nationals in Wisconsin Dells, Wisc.
First, the Bear won his age 14 and younger, 92-pound Greco-Roman bracket by 8-1 decision against Bruno Cassioppi of Illinois. The victory completed a 4-0 run through his bracket, which included three technical falls.
Then, on Saturday, Loges won his freestyle bracket with a 2-0 decision against Cassioppi. The 92-pounder earned technical falls and a 4-0 semifinals win on his way to the title. He bested wrestlers from Missouri, Michigan and Iowa in those matches.
Before the Friday-Saturday Wisconsin nationals, two more Blair wrestlers competed in Orlando, Fla., during the AAU Scholastic Duals at the Orange County Convention Center. BHS 160-pounder Kaden Sears competed alongside his Nebraska Corn Stalkers teammates, compiling an 8-3 record with six pins.
Charlie Powers, meanwhile, wrestled for the Nebraska Detasselers lineup, going 9-3. He had four pins, including one against the Montana Maroon that took just 31 seconds at 152 pounds.
