The Blair American Legion baseball teams split games in Eastern Nebraska Baseball League (ENBL) Tournament play June 29.
While both lineups entered the day's play with 0-1 starts, just the Post 154 Juniors advanced during the double-elimination tourney with a 1-1 mark. They topped Nebraska City 10-2 in Ashland, while the Seniors fell to Omaha Concordia 7-5 in Wahoo.
The elder Bears dropped to 0-2 in tournament play and 9-12 overall despite a 3-0 start after one inning against the Mustangs. They led 4-3 after two frames and held the advantage until Concordia scored four runs across the last two innings, including three in the seventh.
Blair's Nate Wachter took the pitching loss despite allowing just four hits in three innings. Dylan Swanson, meanwhile, gave up just three hits during his four innings of work on the mound.
Tanner Jacobson, Conner O'Neil, Kaden Fletcher and Eli Morgan notched RBIs for the Senior Bears in defeat, too. Swanson, Jacobson and Morgan Rump all hit doubles, but their team left eight runners on base.
The Post 154 Juniors, meanwhile, improved to 5-11 overall this season with their eight-run ENBL win. They earned control of the game during the third and fourth innings, scoring the league battle's first six runs.
Lee Chavez-Lara and Peyton Briggs plated runs during the third inning before the Bears tagged on four more runs in the fourth. The team was scheduled to play a third tourney game Thursday before a two-game homestand during the weekend. Results for all three games will appear in this Friday's Washington County Enterprise.
