Christmas music played as dozens of families gathered and enjoyed hot chocolate and cookies Thursday during the inaugural Christmas tree lighting at Blair City Hall.
The crowd counted down before Mayor Rich Hansen flipped the switch to light the city's Christmas tree and kick off the holiday season.
Following the lighting, the crowd sang a verse of “Joy to the World.”
“I think it was a fantastic turnout,” organizer and city council member Mindy Rump said. “It was a small gathering, but we should go back to a small town Christmas.”
The city hopes to grow the ceremony with other activities in the future.
