Blair girls earn 4th against Class A runners

Boys take 7th at Lincoln North Star meet

Coach Darren Harsin's Blair Bears took on a field of mostly Class A competition Thursday during the Lincoln North Star XC Invite.
The Class B BHS girls were fourth out of 13 teams, while the boys took seventh. The North Star boys and Lincoln Southwest girls earned team titles on the 5-kilometer course at Pioneers Park.
Junior Chloe Schrick logged the Bears' overall top finish, claiming sixth out of 89 runners. She stopped the clock in 20:41.46, finishing a little more than 1:03 behind the race winner — Brianna Rinn of Lincoln Southwest.
Blair's Allie Czapla also earned a top-15 medal on the girls' side, clocking in at 21:41.29 for 13th place. Kaitlynn Amandus was 17th, Emily Lamoureux was 46th and freshman Jade Wickwire took 52nd.
On the boys' side, BHS' Dawson Fricke continued his season-long run of top-10 finishes with a ninth-place effort. He crossed the finish line at 17:45.13, while race-winner Daniel Romary of Lincoln Northeast took 16:31.82 to win the 84-athlete race.
The Bears' Nolan Slominski was 27th in 18:32.3, while Calin O'Grady was 47th and Zyler Wyman took 49th. Ted Lueders finished 46th and Nick Wayman earned 57th.
BHS was also scheduled to take part in the University of Nebraska-Kearney Invite on Monday. Results for those races will appear in Friday's Washington County Enterprise.
