On Oct. 12, the Blair High School Future Business Leaders of America chapter held its annual member installation meeting in the high school auditorium.
As part of the installation, the FBLA officer team led the FBLA Creed and shared what the letters of FBLA represented. All of the new members were asked to introduce themselves to the chapter. This year, the Blair FBLA chapter has 94 members.
This year’s officer team includes Carley Damme, president; Emma Cada, first vice president; Julia Saylor, second vice president; Cole Wilkins, treasurer; Caitlyn Haggstrom, secretary; Katie Matney, historian; Landen Oppliger, news reporter; Courtney Geise, parliamentarian; Caleb Coburn, statistician; and Jakob Andersen, web designer.
The meeting’s guest speaker was Jeff Zurek. He talked about leadership and being a role model. He challenged the students to be a positive role model because someone is always watching. Following the speaker, students did a “find the officer” picture scavenger hunt through the high school halls.
The chapter’s future events were also discussed at the meeting. The chapter will volunteer at the Washington County Recycling Center on Nov. 14. Members are also working on a project to promote small business in the Blair Community. Blair FBLA is seeking creative ways to be involved this year amid the current pandemic circumstances.
