Forty-eight hours in, the Blair boys wrestling team stood at 7-0.
It took just two days of the 2022-23 season for the Bears to earn seven dual victories with the last clinching their hometown duals invitational title. The 48-30 win against South Sioux City also served as coach Erich Warner's 250th career victory.
“That's what they told me, so I'll trust them,” he said.
BHS went 5-0 against the list of invite opposition, besting Lincoln North Star 62-7, Schuyler 55-24, Platteview 69-3, Albion Boone Central 52-18 and the Cardinals — the second place team. It lost just 16 total matches across five duals, according to Huskermat.
The Bears scored 23 pins and four technical falls with Tannon Bellamy (1-0), Hudson Loges (3-0), Luke Frost (3-0), Tyson Brown (5-0), Jesse Loges (4-0), Atticus Dick (4-0), Yoan Camejo (5-0) and Kaden Sears (4-0) going unbeaten in contested matches.
Sears and Dick pinned four opponents apiece, while Camejo and Jesse Loges each pinned three.
BHS' Nathan Boswell (4-1), Griffin Rosterman (3-2), Corban Landauer (1-1) and Seagan Packett-Trisdale (2-1) also picked up match victories, while Keenan Wyman and Brock Hamm earned team points by forfeit, too.
In the tournament-deciding dual against South Sioux City, coach Warner's team won every match from the 132- to 160-pound weight classes. Brown won 9-3 at 132, Jesse Loges logged a 138-pound pin in 24 seconds and Boswell notched a 15-3 major decision at 145.
Then, at 152 pounds, Dick pinned his Cardinal in 1:43 before Camejo's match lasted just 1:11.
Sears' 182-pound pin took 34 seconds and Frost's 120-pound effort was stopped early at 18-2, while Bellamy and Hudson Loges scored forfeit points at 106 and 113, respectively.
Blair next competes Friday during the two-day Council Bluffs Classic at the Mid-America Center. Matches begin at noon with Saturday's start set for 10 a.m.

Bears sweep triangular duals
The Blair boys officially opened wrestling season Thursday with a home triangular sweep of both Fremont and Papillion-La Vista South.
Dick, a BHS 152-pounder, wrestled the first match of a 54-21 win against the Tigers and earned a 55-second pin. Camejo, Sears, Thomas Chikos, Bellamy, Hudson Loges, Frost, Wyman, Brown and Jesse Loges followed suit with their own match wins.
Then, against the Titans, the Bears won seven of the 12 contested matches and the dual, 41-22. Dick and Rosterman earned pins, while Hudson Loges and Brown claimed major decisions. Jesse Loges, Boswell and Camejo won by 7-4, 8-6 and 10-4 decisions, respectively.
