Bears beat The Platte 1-0 on Belsky goal

The Blair boys soccer team is 2-1 three games into its spring season.
Coach Curt Scott's Bears added their second win of the season Friday at Plattsmouth High School before dropping a 9-3 match at Hastings on Saturday.
Against The Platte — a co-op team comprised of student-athletes from both Platteview and Plattsmouth — Blair earned its second shutout of the season during a 1-0 win.
The Bears didn't give up a goal, but did score one with 21:13 left in the second half. Freshman Eli Belsky tallied it, capitalizing on a soaring pass over the box from right to left by Crayton Macholan.
The goal followed a corner kick that didn't quite make it to the opposite goal post as Macholan's assist did.
The win pushed BHS' season record to 2-0 before it played another weekend game against the Tigers. In that road match, the Bears went from zero goals allowed to nine.
Coach Scott's team kept pace with Hastings during the 4-3 first half, but couldn't stay in the match during the 5-0 second. Blair's Victor Hernandez, Belsky and Sergio Dominguez scored their team's first-half goals in defeat. Dominguez earned his by penalty kick.
The Bears were scheduled to host Elkhorn North on Monday and next compete 7 p.m. Thursday against Columbus Scotus at Krantz Field.
