5 swimmers qualify for regionals

The Blair Family YMCA Swim Team competed last Saturday during the Norfolk YMCA Aquajets meet, securing 11 event wins.
Barracudas Maddie Prinds and Bryce Nabity each won three. Prinds secured her victories in the 50-yard freestyle (40.22 seconds), the 25 freestyle (19.42) and the 50 butterfly (57.12).
Nabity, meanwhile, earned is wins in the 25 butterfly (26.09), the 25 freestyle (18.77) and the 100 IM (2:03.17).
Blair's Noah and Abby Nabity also won races in the pool Saturday. Noah won his age group's 50-yard breaststroke in 53.69 seconds and the 100 IM in 1:46.09, while Abby secured her 100 IM race in 1:45.88.
Madeline Ternus won the 25 backstrokes in 21 seconds, too, while Sawyer Uphoff was victorious in the 50 butterfly with a time of 1:02.6.

Swimmers qualify for regional meets
Through the Norfolk meet, five Blair swimmers have qualified for regional swim meets as well.
Prinds, Ternus and Bryce Nabity earned their spots for the YMCA North Central Regional Championships on March 14-16. Prinds qualified in the 100 freestyle and 50-yard breaststroke, while Ternus and Nabity secured spots in backstroke races.
Bryher Gassman, Abby Nabity, Prinds and Bryce Nabity, meanwhile, qualified for and may compete during the Minnesota MYAS Midwest Regional Swim Meet on March 29-30. Ternus produced the necessary time to compete in Minnesota, too, but her birth date won't allow for her to swim in her age group there.
Gassman, both Nabitys and Prinds all earned Midwest Regional spots in the 50 freestyle, though Prinds also earned spots in the 100 free, 25 free and the 50-yard breaststroke. Bryce Nabity, meanwhile, also qualified in the 50 backstroke and the 25 free race.
