Freshman Allie Czapla earned fifth Thursday during the Eastern Midlands Conference cross-country meet at Norris High School.
The Bear helped her girls team claim runner-up honors as a team, while coach Darren Harsin's boys were fourth in the six-team conference. The Elkhorn girls and the Norris boys earned first-place.
Czapla clocked in at 21:37.6 — just 3 seconds behind first-place Maddie Yardley of the Antlers — while teammate Hailey Amandus finished in 22:13.5 to earn 11th. BHS' Cayli Penner, Chloe Schrick and Mary Roskens, meanwhile, crossed the line in 14th, 15th and 16th, respectively. They stopped the clock in 22:26, 22:31.6 and 22:32.5.
The Bears' Grace Galbraith was 30th, while Emily Lamoureux led her team in the junior varsity standings with a seventh-place finish.
Nolan Slominski logged the Blair boys' top time, taking 13th in 18:44.8. Dawson Fricke was 17th in 19:08.9, while Zac Keeling was 19th in 19:14.7 and Nick Wayman was 20th in 19:21.2. Mason Bell earned 23rd, Peter Clarke was 33rd and Zyler Wyman was fourth in the JV standings.
The Bears next run their district race Thursday at Elkhorn Mount Michael.
