BHS FFA to hold canned goods drive with elementary schools

The Blair High School FFA is hoping to build a tractor out of canned goods with the help of elementary students.

The organization is hosting a canned food drive Monday through April 30.

With the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, FFA vice president and community service co-chair Trinity Back said the students wanted “to do more to help the community. This is one way that we thought of.”

Participating schools include North, South and Deerfield.

“Going into the elementary schools would be a great way to get the kids involved and show them more about what FFA does,” Back said.

Once the drive is finished, the students will create a tractor with the canned goods. All items collected will go to the Washington County Food Pantry.

Back said she hopes the younger students will see giving back to the community can be fun, but also rewarding.

“There are very simple ways to give back to the community,” she said. “It doesn't have to big.”
