BHS basketball teams drop games to Antlers

Bears play in EMC tourney this week

Before they were to meet for the first round of the Eastern Midlands Conference Touranment, the Blair and Elkhorn girls basketball teams played a regular season game Friday on the Antlers' home floor.
EHS (6-7 overall) picked up the upset victory, topping the No. 9 Bears (10-4) 42-33.
Elkhorn started fast, scoring a 13-4 lead through one quarter. BHS would outscore the home team by two in the second half, but had trailed by 11 at the intermission, 25-15.
Makayla Baughman scored seven points to lead the Bears, while Ella Ross and Kalli Ulven scored six apiece. Haley DeBuse led the Antlers with 13.
The teams were to meet again Monday to start the EMC Tournament, but games were postponed to Wednesday at 6 p.m. The Bears host.

Bears contend against No. 6 Antlers
The unranked Blair boys basketball team challenged No. 6 Elkhorn on Friday, but the Antlers pulled out the five-point victory, 43-38.
Kip Tupa scored 13 points as the Bears bounced back from an 11-5 first-quarter deficit to even the score at 17 and go into the fourth period down just 26-23. Morgan Rump had nine, and Luke Ladwig, Wyatt Ogle and Cade Ulven added five points each in defeat.
The loss dropped BHS to 7-7 this season, while Elkhorn improved to 8-4. The Antlers were led by Gannon Gragert's 11 points.
Both Blair and Elkhorn were to started Eastern Midlands Conference Tournament play Monday evening, but games were postponed. The Bears now play 7 p.m. Wednesday at Bennington.
