The Blair wrestling team opened the 2021 half of its season on the Iowa side of the Nebraska-Hawkeye State border Saturday.
On that trip from home, the Bears went 3-0 at Council Bluffs Lewis Central, topping Sioux City North, Urbandale and the host school in duals.
Coach Erich Warner's team capped the successful quadrangular with a 46-22 win against Urbandale. Lance Hume started off the dual at heavyweight, earning an 18-second pin. From there, Atticus Dick, Yoan Camejo and Braden Hanson picked up their own pins.
Against Lewis Central, the Bears opened with a 48-21 victory. Camejo and Hanson notched two more pins, while Dex Larsen, Hume, Dylan Berg and Dane Larsen earned decisions. Camejo's pin at 152 pounds took just 50 seconds, while Hanson finishes his match at 182 in just 1:13.
Hume, Landon Templar, Berg, Hanson and Larsen then added pins against Sioux City North. Their efforts helped produce a 55-18 Blair victory.
Though the Bears lost matches at 120, 126 and 132 pounds, it won the rest against North, including a 18-5 major decision at 113 pounds by Luke Frost. Templar's pin at 138 then set off a seven-weight class streak where BHS claimed team points without a North disruption.
The Bears next host Gretna tonight in junior varsity and varsity duals. Matches start at 5 p.m.
