Blair's last tennis tournament of the regular season was a tough one Thursday.
The eight-team Woods Tennis Center event was split into two pools with the Bears facing Columbus, Elkhorn and Lincoln Christian in their four-team field.
“Very good teams,” BHS coach Matt Aschoff said.
The No. 2 doubles team of Addy Nilges and Bailey Dingfield picked up Blair's lone win of pool competition, besting a Lincoln Christian duo 8-2. The two Bears picked up a second win during the final round, securing a fifth-place finish overall in Lincoln.
The rest of the BHS lineup went 2-1 during the final round. No. 1 singles player Caitlyn Haggstrom beat a Beatrice player 8-4 to secure seventh with a 1-3 record.
The Bears' Alexandra Nilges also took seventh, picking up her first varsity win at No. 2 singles, 8-3. The 1-3 BHS player finished the day 1-3.
BHS' No. 1 doubles team, Phoenixx Penke and Mallory Dreher, meanwhile, took eighth. They were 0-4.
Coach Aschoff's team next competes Thursday during the NSAA Class B State Championships back at the Woods Tennis Center. First-round matches begin at 9 a.m.
