For the fifth time in six games Friday, the Blair baseball team won.
The Bears scored two first-inning runs and defeated the visiting Douglas County West Falcons 12-5 at Vets Field. The home squad's fifth win since April 20 pushed its season record to 11-12.
After tallying two runs during the first inning, BHS added seven during the third frame to jump ahead 9-0. The Falcons scored five of their own runs during the top of the fourth frame, but could not catch coach John Roan's team.
Dex Larsen led BHS with three RBIs, while fellow seniors Kaden Fletcher, Cade Ulven and Nolan Osterhaus added two hits apiece.
Pitcher Shea Wendt started, striking out six batters over 3 2/3 innings. Canton Lippincott, the winning pitcher, and Ulven combined for 3 1/3 scoreless innings as well.
Blair closes out its regular season 4:30 p.m. today at Wahoo's Sam Crawford Field. It then begins postseason play 4 p.m. Thursday at Kernel Field in Central City. The third-seeded Bears face No. 6 Platteview during first-round district competition.
