Blair Community Schools received two substantial donations Monday that will benefit students.

Randy Lock, on behalf of Two Rivers Bank, donated $15,000 — $10,000 of that was used toward the purchase of Chromebooks for K-2 students.

Prior to the purchase, the district was not a 1-to-1 computer technology school. With the donation, more than 500 students received a computer.

“We all know, this year more than any, it's critical that we have that technology,” Supt. Randy Gilson.

A portion of the donation also supported middle school students.

Lock also donated $5,000 to go toward a new Hall of Fame kiosk at Blair High School. Due to the office relocation and renovation, the Hall of Fame wall was removed. The digital kiosk will have those pictures as well as yearbooks available for people to see.

The board unanimously voted to accept a $115,000 donation from the Blair Bear Backers for the renovation of the press box at Krantz Field.

The renovations aren't quite complete, but they include new windows, siding, roof, signage, electrical, framing and a finished inside.

Board president Kari Loseke and Gilson thanked the Bear Backers for their work.

“This is an incredible donation to the district,” Loseke said.
