Arlington swimmers Josh Iossi, Elisabeth Meyer and Cade Arnett helped their Fremont swim team to third-place finishes last Saturday during the Gene Cotter Invitational in Lincoln.
The Tigers' boys team was third to first-place Kearney and second-place Grand Island during the 10-team event, while the girls were third to the Islanders and Hastings.
Iossi was a member of the FHS' second-place 200-yard medley relay and the Tigers' third-place 200 freestyle squad. The teams finished their races in 1:45.7 and 1:34.9, respectively.
Arnett, meanwhile, took sixth with his 400 free relay team.
Meyer's top finishes also came in Fremont relays. She was a member of both fourth-place squads in the 200- and 400-yard freestyle relays. The 400 lineup — Ellie Schiemann, Charlotte Vech, Lucy Dillon and Meyer — stopped the clock in 4:07.8.
Overall, Tigers coach David Struble was pleased with his team's effort during the Lincoln High meet.
“We had several swimmers earn top 6 medals and even more swimmers scoring points in the top 12,” he said. “Many swimmers stepped up and contributed to the points total needed for the teams to earn top-three overall.”
FHS junior Karsen Jesse led the Tigers with two individual event wins, while Nathaniel McClellan and Connor Christ earned second-place finishes.
