The Arlington girls basketball team faced two opponents on the road Friday and Saturday, going 0-2 to drop to 3-8 this season.
First, the Eagles dropped a 48-33 game at Raymond Central, a Nebraska Capitol Conference foe. The Mustangs jumped out to a 21-7 lead through 8 minutes, but AHS held its ground from there.
“We played hard,” coach Luke Brenn said Friday night. “We just need to clean things up and execute.”
Though the Eagles still trailed 30-17 at halftime, they actually won the second quarter, 10-9. Freshman Libby Hegemann scored a 2-point bucket with just 15 seconds left before the break to make it so. She finished with five points, while classmate Britt Nielsen scored a team-high eight.
Arlington's Keelianne Green, Kate Miller and Taylor Arp scored five points apiece in defeat as well. Rachel Potter, meanwhile, led Raymond Central (6-5 overall) with a game-high 11.
The next night, Saturday, AHS took on Class D1 No. 1 Fremont Bergan. The Eagles lost 57-31 despite leading 9-8 after one period.
Miller led the Eagles with 10 points, while Nielsen finished with seven.
Summer Bojanski and Adisyn Mendlik led the Knights — who snapped a two-game losing streak with Saturday's win — with 13 points apiece.
Arlington next plays 6 p.m. today at home against North Bend Central.
