Arlington boys wrestling goes 1-4 at dual tourney

Eagles finish 5th at Ashland

The Arlington boys wrestling team went 1-4 in Friday night duals at Ashland-Greenwood.
As a result, the Eagles finished fifth out of six teams during the Bluejays' dual tourney. They beat the Platteview Trojans 36-33, but lost to Yutan (51-21), Millard North (54-27), Boys Town (59-12) and their hosts (42-33).
Every AHS wrestler who participated picked up a contested victory. Jake Flesner and Trey Hill both went unbeaten, finishing 3-0.
Flesner, a 106-pounder, earned two pins and a 10-3 decision against Millard North's Carter Swearingen. Hill, meanwhile, claimed two falls and a 10-8 decision against Yutan 113-pounder Janson Pilkington.
Kolton Gilmore was the Eagle, wrestling during each of the five duals. He was 2-3 at 152 pounds, pinning the Mustangs' Elijah Nunamaker and topping Ashland's Austyn Cote 7-5.
Arlington's Tanner Kyllo (1-1), Cameron Hancock (1-3), Ben Flesner (1-3) and Tate Johannes (1-2) added a contested win apiece, too. All four wrestlers claimed those victories by pin.
The Eagles next compete Friday and Saturday during the Class C District 1 Tournament at Albion Boone Central. Top-four finishers will earn a state tourney berth with only Hill as a previous qualifier.
