Nobody goes head-to-head with Arlington boys basketball senior Aiden Foreman more than Barrett Nielsen.
The lead Eagles' teammate spoke highly of the 6-foot-5 post player he faces every day in practice after Monday's 60-31 home win against Syracuse. Foreman scored a game-high 25 points against the Rockets before notching the same amount in a 53-46 win at Plattsmouth on Tuesday.
“He's a big body,” Nielsen said. “He can easily just back anyone down. He's spent a lot of time in that weight room and its really paying off for him.”
Foreman was on the top of his game inside and out against the overmatched Rockets. The senior scored nine buckets inside the 3-point arc and two more from outside it. He also notched his second slam dunk in as many games, displaying all of scoring skills with the basketball.
“Of all of the posts in C1, he can use that left hand better than anyone else,” Nielsen elaborated.
Overall, Arlington rolled against Syracuse. It led 24-4 after one period and 42-15 at halftime before the bench played the majority of the second half.
“We could get just about any look,” Nielsen said. “So, tonight, we were looking for the best one.”
In addition to Foreman's 25 points, AHS junior Colby Grefe notched 16. Of those, the sharpshooter tallied 12 from beyond the 3-point line.
A day later, the Eagles hit the road and topped Plattsmouth 53-46. Foreman made seven 2s, one 3 and eight free throws during his 25-point effort, while Dustin Kirk logged 10 points. Grefe and Nick Smith added seven apiece as Arlington improved to 13-7.
The Eagles have won five games in a row with just two left before the end of the regular season.
