The Blair Senior Legion baseball team earned a Class B Senior State Tournament qualification Tuesday night.
The Post 154 Bears did it by besting Waterloo-Valley 7-6 during the Area 3 Tournament finale in Fort Calhoun. Coach James Bilslend's team next competes Saturday in Holdrege, though official first-round matchups were unavailable as of Wednesday morning.
To beat Waterloo-Valley, Blair outfielder Brady Brown hit 2-for-3 with four RBIs. Nelson Kosch plated two runs, too, while Lucas Matejka earned the pitching win. Blaine Rosenbaum also threw three innings from the mound, totaling three strikeouts and inducing the final out — a groundout to shortstop Carter Saylor.
Blair enters the Class B state tourney with a 35-5 overall record. It swept through the double-elimination Area tournament with four-straight wins.
