Annual quilt show, garden walk planned in Washington County

Posted

Doug and Teri Wolfe will host their annual Quilt Show and Garden Walk at their farm in Washington County. Featuring more than 100 quilts, extensive, groomed gardens, several unique crafts and refreshments, this year’s event will take place 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. July 17 at 1709 County Road 21, Bennington.

The event is free and dependent on weather. There is no alternative rain date.

The event draws quilt fans and garden lovers from near and far, with visitors coming from places like South Dakota, Minnesota, Iowa, Missouri, Illinois and Kansas. The Wolfes will have many quilts on display over the farm’s 10 acres, each showcased in unique and creative ways, hanging from fences, antique bed frames, draped over cattle panels and on various out-buildings.

Each year, a “featured quilter” is highlighted with a number of quilts from the individual on display. This year’s featured quilter will be Scott A. Flanagan of Fremont. Flanagan has been quilting for more than 25 years and he has crafted more than 300 quilts during that time. He credits his love for quilting to his grandmother and comes from a long family line of woodworkers and crafters. In 2011, Scott began his own pattern design company and loves to create patterns for fellow quilt enthusiasts to enjoy.
