Albert F. “Willie” Lunn, 87

Albert F. Lunn, age 87, was born on June 5, 1934, in White River, S.D., to Palmer and Anna (Barcal) Lunn and died in Omaha on May 25, 2022. After graduating from high school in Bonesteel, S.D., Albert joined the U.S. Army and served for two years, being stationed at the Panama Canal. When he was out of the service, he moved to Omaha to attend electronics school and met his wife, Betty (Bruening), who came from St. Helena. They were married in 1959 and had five children

He started his career working for the U.S. Postal Service in the downtown Omaha station. He retired after 33 years and completed his lifelong dream of building his own home on an acreage near Blair. He then became the Brewmaster at Jaipur Restaurant where he worked for 19 years. Albert was an avid gardener and wine and beer maker. He loved fishing, especially the annual trips with his family.

Albert was preceded in death by his daughter, Barbara, and his parents. He is survived by his wife, Betty; sons: Terry (Malanie), Burt (Denise), and Matt (Megan) Lunn; daughter, Jill Vacek (Mark); ten grandchildren: Austin Lunn (Amber), Brandon Vacek (Elizabeth), Morgan Springer (Danny), Collin Vacek (Darby), Keegan Lunn (Alex), Ryan, Conner, Aidan, Jackson, and Kya Lunn; five great-grandsons: Easton and McCoy Lunn, Oliver and Harrison Springer, and William Vacek. Albert has three surviving sisters: Gladys Rasmussen, MaryLou Saxton (Keith), and Marjorie Galley (Stacy); and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation is Wednesday, June 1, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the West Center Chapel, with Rosary/Vigil Service at 7 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial, Thursday, June 2 at 11 a.m. at Mary Our Queen Catholic Church, 3405 S. 118th St., Omaha. Private Interment at Calvary Cemetery at 2:30 p.m.

Memorials will be directed by the family.
