Jake Polk will be the head boys basketball coach when the Arlington Eagles next take the floor.
Arlington High School announced the hiring publicly March 22 on social media. The physical education teacher replaces Tyler Spitser, who accumulated a 37-79 record across five seasons. The Eagles were 6-18 during the 2022-23 campaign.
Polk, meanwhile, led the Centennial girls basketball team to a 15-10 mark this past season. The Broncos' run concluded Feb. 17 when they lost a 46-36 Class C2 Subdistrict 7 Tournament game to 22-4 Cross County.
Polk also coached Centennial to the 2021 state tournament. It was just the fourth girls state basketball qualification in school history and first in 22 years.
The new Arlington coach led the Broncos' softball program and coached track and field during his tenure at the Utica school, too.
All-in-all, the Eagles will have two new head basketball coaches during the 2023-2024 school year. Tashia Wolf was announced as Luke Brenn's replacement days before Polk's news went public.
