It took more than 26 minutes for the Arlington girls basketball team to score a point against Class C1 No. 2 Lincoln Lutheran on Tuesday.
The Warriors (8-0 overall) hosted the Eagles for their holiday tournament and blasted them, 54-5. The loss dropped coach Luke Brenn's squad to the consolation game and to 3-4 overall. Results from the third-place game in Lincoln will appear in the next Enterprise Media Group edition.
Arlington freshman Callee Shearer finally scored the Eagles' first bucket against Lincoln Lutheran with 5:49 remaining in the fourth period. She got inside the lane and shot the ball off of the backboard for two points.
Shearer scored AHS' third point, too, knocking down a free throw with the Warriors ahead by 51 points. The freshman also contributed to Keelianne Green's made jump shot, securing an offensive rebound and passing the ball out to the junior.
Lincoln Lutheran used defensive pressure and its intimidating length to build an 18-0 first period lead. That advantage swelled to 35-0 at halftime and 46-0 through three quarters.
Abby Wachal led the Warriors with 11 points, while Jenna Luebbe had nine. The win pushed the Warriors' season record to 8-0.
