Kailynn Gubbels hit the go-ahead 3-pointer Tuesday as the Arlington girls basketball team bested the Wisner-Pilger Gators 46-45.
The junior Eagle knocked down the long-range shot on an assist from Kylee Bruning with 2:39 remaining. It put coach Luke Brenn's team ahead 43-41 on the road and led to AHS moving to 4-5 on the season.
To keep the late lead, Bruning and Keelianne Green combined for three free throws with less than 40 seconds remaining. The makes were necessary as Wisner-Pilger scored a bucket with 12.1 seconds left and was fouled in the process. The foul shot missed, though, and the Eagles were able to leave the Gators' home floor with their fourth win of the season.
