The Arlington girls basketball team closed out its regular season Friday at Louisville, falling 41-32.
The loss dropped the Eagles to 6-16. They were scheduled to start subdistrict postseason play Monday in North Bend, and results will appear in Friday's Arlington Citizen and Washington County Enterprise.
Against the Lions, however, AHS fell behind at the half, 24-11, after just a two-point second period. Coach Luke Brenn's team bounced back with 13 in the third, though, as the Eagles pulled within 36-24 with 8 minutes to go.
Junior Keelianne Green finished out the third with a bucket-scoring drive into the lane in the final seconds. Libby Hegemann then capped the period at the buzzer, pulling down a defensive rebound.
Louisville responded, extending its lead back out to 13 points during the fourth quarter. Arlington's Hailey O'Daniel earned her team some momentum, though, when she drew an offensive foul with 3:09 left to go. Hegemann tried to capitalize on that momentum on the subsequent offensive possession, but her shot attempt rolled off of the rim.
Green later made a fourth-quarter 3-pointer, but the push came too late as the Lions led by no less than the nine-point final margin.
Arlington seniors Hailey Brenn and Cassidy Arp each scored four points, while Green led the Eagles with 13. Stella Lewis, another 12th-grader, finished out her final regular season with two points.
Ella Johnson led Louisville with 13 points, while Brooke Smith scored 11. The Lions improved to 10-13 with the win.
