AHS' Bruning, Kraemer make NCC softball 1st team

Eagles, Pioneers claim honors

Arlington standouts Kylee Bruning and Paige Kraemer recently earned first-team softball status as the Nebraska Capitol Conference (NCC) announced its postseason honors.
Bruning and Kraemer were on the 10-player first team, while Hailey Brenn and Cadie Robinson made the second team and Kiersten Taylor claimed honorable mention. Fort Calhoun's Kenzie Hansen, Katie Barta and Maddie Reed also registered honorable mention status.
Bruning, an Eagle senior, earned co-captain honors with Jennifer Katz of Cass. The shortstop hit at a .516 average this fall with nine doubles, four triples and three homers. She also stole a team-high five bases.
Kraemer, meanwhile, hit .430 with a team-best 34 hits. The junior had 25 RBIs, while Cadie Robinson notched AHS' high of 26.
Brenn, the Eagles' primary pitcher, went 14-11 with a 4.70 ERA. The right-hander logged 136 strikeouts in 140 innings. Taylor struck out seven in her pitching role in addition to her everyday duties in centerfield.
Hansen was the Pioneers' constant at shortstop who finished with a team-best nine RBIs. Barta (35 Ks) and Reed (13), meanwhile, combined for 48 strikeouts in the pitching circle.
