A Classic at Dana

Blair Basketball Club hosts annual Hoopstock Classic Tournament

Blair Basketball Club's annual youth tournament found a new home in 2021.
The boys' Hoopstock Classic was played last Saturday and Sunday on the former home courts of the Dana College Vikings at Gardner-Hawks Center. More than 10 years after the college closed in 2010, it hosted games played by about 60 youth basketball teams thanks to the work of volunteers who spruced up the gyms prior to tipoff.
The Gardner-Hawks Center has served as a youth sports hub for local teams in recent years, but Blair Basketball Club has typically played its Hoopstock games at Otte Blair Middle School and Blair High School. This year, however, the club played its boys tournaments last week and will host its girls tournaments this Saturday and Sunday.
In boys action, multiple Blair teams found success. Among the division champions were the basketball club's seventh-grade Purple squad and the sixth-grade Bears. The third-grade Blair Bears, the seventh-grade White squad, the eighth-grade White team and the second-grade Bears also earned top-three finishes.
In addition, the Arlington seventh-grade lineup took gold in their age group's bronze division.
The Dana College Vikings may not suit up at Gardner-Hawks Center anymore, but the Blair Basketball Club certainly did.
