Bo Meier and Chase Cottle combined for 32 points Thursday as the Otte Blair seventh-grade boys basketball team earned a 50-34 home victory.
Meier used his height advantage, his post moves and offensive rebounds to score a team-high 17 points, while Cottle notched 15 with two 3-pointers to help the Bears top Elkhorn Ridge Middle School by 16.
The Otte Blair seventh-graders led 12-6 after one quarter, 23-17 at halftime and 33-27 after three before outscoring their opposition 17-7 during the fourth period. Aidan Slominski started a productive fourth-quarter with a layup off of a fast-break pass from Hayden Daggett.
In addition to Meier and Cottle's 32 points, Slominski and Colin McCabe had seven apiece. McCabe knocked down a 3-point shot during the third quarter, while teammates Declan McCabe and Daggett each scored two total points.
Thursday's game was the sixth on the Otte Blair seventh-grade team's schedule. It hosted another Monday and is scheduled to play five more during December beginning with a Dec. 3 tilt at Bennington Junior High School. The Bears — who are coached by Brett LeGrand and Scott Macholan — next play at home on Dec. 7 and Dec. 14.
