The last Nannen Physical Therapy Athletes of the Week for the fall season are Rylie Kyllo, Kaiden Rodriguez and Olivia Wolff.
They get top billing this week, but congratulations to every Washington County student-athlete who's competed in football, volleyball, cross-country, softball and golf since August. It was a lot of fun watching those kids compete.
Rylie Kyllo, Arlington volleyball: The Eagle notched 22 kills between her team’s two subdistrict tournament games earlier this week, including 16 against Winnebago. Special mention goes to Macy Wolf, who wasn’t too far behind as well as the entire Arlington football team for its first postseason appearance since 2018.
Kaiden Rodriguez, Fort Calhoun football: The Pioneer running back put up points in the kicking game during FCHS’ first playoff win in 13 years. He booted two field goals during the 20-13 victory against Gothenburg, including a 40-yarder just before halftime. Special mention goes to Conner Hart, Quentin Billesbach and Beau Roma for leading the defensive effort with 11 total tackles apiece. I should mention Emilee Thayer-Mencke, too, who had 23 kills across two subdistrict volleyball matchups.
Olivia Wolff, Blair volleyball: The setter notched 39 assists in a four-set district match against Aurora on Thursday. No one’s been more of a consistent contributor for the Bears across her three seasons so far. Special mention goes to Madeline Chikos (kills), Andi Hume (blocks) and Addi Svehla (digs) for putting up strong numbers during the match, too.
Alright, well, I guess that's it. Thanks for reading this day-early Athlete of the Week feature everybody. It’s always exciting to see these things do good numbers on the Enterprise website and on social media, knowing the kids are seeing their accomplishments get shared around, too.
I don’t believe there will be a video interview to watch for this week, but make sure to look in the next two editions of the newspaper for Nannen Physical Therapy Athlete of the Week coverage.
Again, thanks for reading. It’s been a pleasure sharing your kids’ achievements and stories these past nine years (six days from nine, technically, but who's counting).
