Two people were injured in a three-vehicle accident Friday at the intersection of 19th and Front streets in Blair.

Two Blair police officers were the first on scene after coming upon the accident.

“We were at 19th and Washington and we were like, 'What is that up ahead?' We pulled up on it,” Capt. Travis Lyon said. “We were trying to process it. We couldn't comprehend what was going on at the corner. Then as we were pulling up, we realized it was a vehicle.”

Blair Fire and Rescue was dispatched around 12:30 p.m. Kennard Fire and Rescue also responded.

According to a preliminary report, Lyon said the Dodge Ram 1500 pickup truck was headed east on Front Street and was attempting to cross 19th Street when it was hit by a blue Ford Taurus and a blue Chevrolet Equinox.

“Both vehicles were northbound and basically collided at the exact same time. That's what pushed it over,” Lyon said.

The vehicles came to rest on the corner.

Two passengers in the truck were able to escape. Blair firefighters worked for several minutes to extricate the driver of the truck.

The driver of the Equinox and the pickup truck were transported to Memorial Community Hospital and Health System with what Lyon described as non-life threatening injuries.

The driver of the Ford Taurus and the two passengers from the truck were treated at the scene and refused transport.

“I thought it was going to be a lot worse,” Lyon said.
