Vivian Kelley, 91

Vivian Irene Kelley, age 91 of Blair, passed peacefully with her family by her side on Feb. 15, 2024, at Methodist Hospital in Omaha. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, Feb. 21, 2024, at 10 a.m. at St. Francis Borgia Catholic Church in Blair. Graveside services will follow at the Holy Cross Cemetery in Blair. Visitation will be held Tuesday, Feb. 20 from 5-8 p.m. at St. Francis Borgia Catholic Church with a Rosary beginning at 7 p.m.

Vivian was born Aug. 1, 1932, in Blair, Neb., the daughter of Lorens and Ida Miller. She attended and graduated from Blair High School in 1949. After High School, she began working for Blair Telephone Company. In 1950, she was united in marriage to Robert L. “Pat” Kelley. She later began working as an administrative assistant for Stewart Smith Surveying Associates, and continued to work there as the company was purchased by Warren Whitaker and then Dick Hansen.

Vivian volunteered at the Blair Hospital Gift Shop, as was as the Auxiliary Closet Thrift Store. She also served the community as a member of the City of Blair Planning Commission, a board member for the Blair Housing Authority and as President of her dance club. Vivian was a long-time member of St. Francis Borgia Catholic church, serving on the parish council and the prayer shawl committee. She enjoyed playing all board games including aggregation (marbles) for money. Vivian also enjoyed crossword and Sudoku puzzles. Her love of Bridge and the wonderful ladies she played with in different groups, made her last few years so enjoyable. Vivians all-time favorite hobby was crocheting doilies and family names which she often gave as gifts.

Vivian is survived by her children: Debra Kelley, Patricia Kelley, Kitt Kelley, Matthew (Suzanne) Kelley, Robert “Bob” Kelley, John Kelley (Brenda), Willaim “Bill” (Angie) Kelley, and Mark Kelley; along with 13 grandchildren,  12 great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, extended family, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, siblings: John, Marian, Ethel, and Delmer;  former spouse Robert “Pat” Kelley and Fiancé Vern Luddington.

Memorial may be directed to the Blair Rescue Squad, Lupus Foundation of America, or Multiple Sclerosis Foundation.
