Subdistrict Soccer Update: Blair boys win, advance

Note: Tuesday's Subdistrict final start time has been adjusted to 6 p.m. in South Sioux City.

The Blair High School boys soccer team won its Class B-4 Subdistrict Tournament opener Monday in South Sioux City.
The second-seeded Bears topped No. 3 Norfolk Catholic/Lutheran High 4-1, earning a subdistrict final spot against the host SSC Cardinals. The match is 6 p.m. Tuesday back on the Cards’ home field, according to an nsaahome.org bracket.
Sakuto Yamada, Quinn Baedke, Isaac Field and Colton Matney all scored goals for coach Curt Scott’s team in victory. Baedke was credited with his when deflecting a Lane Christensen shot into the net during the second half.
Blair’s win pushed its season record to 8-7.
The 10-4 BHS girls soccer team, meanwhile, hosts its Class B-3 Subdistrict Tournament opener 5 p.m. Tuesday at Krantz Field. The second-seeded Bears play Omaha Roncalli to start.

In other Monday results
NCC track: The Arlington boys finished second during the conference meet in Valley, scoring 105 points to the first-place Douglas County West Falcons’ 113. The Eagle girls were third, too, while the Fort Calhoun boys took fifth. The Pioneer girls claimed seventh during the nine-team meet.
Baseball teams compete: Washington County high school baseball teams went 2-1 Monday. The Blair Bears won 9-6 at Lincoln Northwest, the Fort Calhoun Pioneers topped Tekamah-Herman 16-2 and Arlington dropped a tight, 4-3 game to Omaha Gross.
