The Arlington High School baseball team pushed Class B No. 8 Omaha Gross in both teams' regular season finals Monday at the Washington County Fairgrounds.
Coach Tyler Stender's Eagles pushed, but the Cougars pulled out the 4-3 win. AHS rallied with two seventh inning runs, but it couldn't score the third to force an eighth inning.
The loss dropped the Eagles to 5-17 as they prepared for Thursday's start to the Class C-3 District Tournament in Central City. An update is available online at arlingtoncitizen.com/sports.
Gross, meanwhile, improved to 12-7 with the win. It earned it with 11 hits, while AHS had just four at home. Blaine Vogt led Eagles with two, while Killian McIntosh and Tyler Ott had one apiece. Ott had an RBI, too, while Andy Misfeldt notched two.
Jackson Stosich led Arlington on the pitching mound against the Cougars, throwing five innings with just two earned runs allowed. He struck out one batter as did Ott, who threw two innings.
