Kaden Foust, Kevin Flesner, Nolan May and Dallin Franzluebbers made Arlington High School track and field history Tuesday during the Columbus Lakeview Invite.
The 1,600-meter relay team earned first in 3:26.56, breaking a school record time set in 1986. Troy Brainard, Brian Greunke, Lonnie Graver and Mark Grefe set the previous low mark — 3:28.7.
The effort helped the Eagles finish third at Lakeview in the boys standings with 95 team points. First-place Columbus Scotus scored 128, while the host Vikings finished with 122.
Coach Kyle Buckingham's Arlington girls, meanwhile, finished fifth with 59 team points. Lakeview took first at home with 154.
Beyond the 1,600 relay win, the Eagles claimed victory in five more events Tuesday. Foust cleared 21 feet, 10 inches in the long jump for first, while Trent Koger covered 40-9.75 to secure a gold medal in the triple jump.
Whitney Wollberg won an event for the AHS girls, too. She cleared a bar set at 9 feet, 6 inches in the pole vault, while also contributing to a pair of first-place relay teams.
Wollberg's 1,600 squad with Kelise Krivohlavek, Austyn Flesner and Hailey O'Daniel won in 4:13.92, while her 3,200 relay team with Krivohlavek, Brooke Hilgenkamp and O'Daniel earned first in 10:23.75.
Arlington next competes on the track 10 a.m. Saturday at Douglas County West High School. The Falcons are hosting the Nebraska Capitol Conference meet in Valley.
