Cheryl Baron, age 79, passed away at her home on Nov. 8, 2023. Cheryl donated her body to science in the hope of helping cancer research.

A memorial service will be held Tuesday, Nov. 14, 2023 at 11 a.m. at First United Methodist Church in Blair. Visitation will be held Monday, Nov. 13 from 5-8 p.m. at Campbell Aman Funeral Home in Blair. The memorial service will be available for viewing on Cheryl’s Tribute Page at campbellaman.com.

Cheryl (Dietz) Baron was born May 25, 1944, in Great Bend, Kan., to Oscar and Leona (Eurich) Dietz. She was baptized, confirmed and married at American Lutheran Church in Milburger, Kan. Cheryl completed grades 1-8 at District 89, Barton County Kansas, graduating from Hoisington Rural High School in 1962. She attended Dana College in Blair, Neb., for two years until her marriage to Richard Baron. To this union two children were born, Dana Downing and Jeff Baron.

Cheryl taught piano in Blair while her children were young. She began her 35-year career with Shelter Insurance in April of 1977 as an agent, retiring in 2012. In 1980, Cheryl began a journey of love as the organist at Good Shepherd Lutheran Home serving there for 35 years.

In 1985, she began her second career as organist at Blair Congregational UCC Church and as secretary in 2001. She served these congregations faithfully over the years including funerals, weddings, and many other special occasions. She enjoyed volunteering for events playing the piano.

Cheryl participated in Blair Area Community Band, Blair Area Community Choir and was a board member of the Washington County Performing Arts Association. In 2005, she married Ronald Bittner and they made their home in Omaha, Nebraska.

Cheryl was preceded in death by her parents and brother Larry Dean. She is survived by husband Ron Bittner; children: Dana Downing (Jeff Husk) and Jeff Baron; sisters: JoLana Pinon and Carma (John) Deutsch; special aunt Joyce Karst; stepchildren: Shannon (Brad) Bittner-Miller and Ryan (Dana) Bittner; grandchildren: Alyssa Husk, Reece, Evan and Adelyn Bittner; as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.

At Cheryl’s request, in lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to Methodist Hospital Foundation with designation to the Wellness program at Estabrook or the Congregational Church of Blair.
