1 killed, 1 injured in head-on collision

One person was killed and another critically injured Tuesday in a head-on collision on U.S. Highway 75 south of Blair.

Washington County sheriff's deputies and Blair and Fort Calhoun fire and rescue personnel responded to the crash just before noon.

The preliminary investigation showed a 2011 Ford F150 was southbound on Highway 75 when it cross the center line and struck a 2016 Subaru Forrester head on. The truck was on fire when deputies arrived. 

Chief Deputy Kevin Willis said there were no witnesses and passersby happened upon the crash.

The driver of the Subaru Forrester was pronounced dead at the scene. He was identified as Shawn Kimbrough, 35, of Springdale, Ark.

The driver of the truck, Christopher Gorham, 37, of Bellevue, was transported by medical helicopter to Nebraska Medicine. Willis said he was in critical condition.

The accident remains under investigation.

Highway 75 was shut down for more than two hours. Blair Public Works employees blocked the highway at County Road P35.
