A woman who was found with drugs in her car following a traffic stop accepted a plea agreement April 9 in Washington County District Court.

Gabriella James, 28, pleaded guilty to two counts of attempted possession of a controlled substance, a Class 1 misdemeanor. A third count was dismissed after James provided proof of a prescription.

Chief Deputy County Attorney Erik Petersen said the state would not object to probation.

James could face up to a year in jail and a $1,000 fine on each charge.

Judge John E Samson ordered a presentence investigation and a substance abuse evaluation.

Sentencing is set for June 4.

James was arrested Aug. 30 after she was stopped for speeding. Deputies learned her license was suspended. When they searched her vehicle, they found a methamphetamine pipe, a tin box containing a measurable amount of suspected crystal meth and a pill bottle with miscellaneous pills.
