FCYSO baseball, softball teams compete

Fort Calhoun Youth Sports Organization (FCYSO) baseball and softball seasons are well underway.

The Pioneers' baseball teams are playing in the Elkhorn Athletic Association League. The age 14 and younger team recently lost to Wahoo 8-2, but owns an 18-5 win against Bennington this month. The 12U Fort Calhoun team, meanwhile, defeated the Elkhorn Red Sox 14-7 on May 20.

The Pioneers also have a 8U and 10U team.

The FCYSO softball teams, ages 8-14, meanwhile, play in the Logan Valley Softball League. The 14U squad was 0-2 as of Tuesday, while the 12U squad had won three straight, including a 10-7 win against Arlington.

The Pioneers also have a 10U, 9U and two 8U softball squads.

10U Blair Cubs tie Omaha Tigers

The age 10 and younger Blair Cubs squad recently tied the Omaha Tigers at 10 in a game shortened by lightning.

The Cubs outhit the Tigers 10-2 with Brevin Leggott totaling three hits. Tucker Storjohann had two hits.
