Washington County track and field athletes picked up their first four medals of the NSAA State Track and Field Championships on Friday at Omaha Burke.

Taya Skelton of Fort Calhoun earned her first track state championship in the 3,200-meter run, finishing her eight laps in 11:57.20. Her senior teammate, Avery McKennan, capped her career with a fourth-place finish in 12:03.53.

Milee Young of Arlington, meanwhile, earned a silver medal in the discus. Her second-place heave traveled 141 feet, 5 inches.

The Eagles' 3,200-meter relay boys team — Casey Kirk, Sam Kubat, Daniel Young and Cole Marquardt — earned a team point with an eighth-place finish in 8:32.2.

Arlington's Kailynn Gubbels, and Fort Calhoun's Zack Marshall, Ben Haggar and Jacob Haggar qualified for Saturday finals as well.
