Nearly six weeks after Iowa schools were encouraged to close due to the COVID-19 pandemic, many families are staying indoors and away from others while finding a new normal.

For some, educating their kids is a top priority. For others, it is more about emotional support. To battle the effects of social isolation, commonly referred to as cabin fever, there are many places locally that families can visit while adhering to the recommended minimum distance from others.

From Old Town Conservation Area southeast of Missouri Valley to Sioux Dam Wildlife Area near Little Sioux, get out and explore Harrison County.
