The Washington County Pilot-Tribune and Enterprise and Arlington Citizen collected 45 awards at the Nebraska Press Association on Friday and Saturday in Kearney.

Forty-four of those awards were part of the Better Newspaper Contest. The entries were judged by members of the Louisiana Press Association.

The Arlington Citizen also received the Omaha World-Herald's Service to Agriculture award in its circulation category.

The Pilot-Tribune finished third in the Class D (2,500 and greater circulation) print and digital sweepstakes, respectively.

The Enterprise received first place in general excellence for Class D, while the Citizen finished first in Class A (up to 859 total circulation).

“A very well designed newspaper filled with quality content,” the judges said of the Enterprise.

The Pilot-Tribune was second in that category.

“Our staff works so hard every week, it’s great to see them win the honors they did at the convention,” Publisher Mark Rhoades said. “I’m most thrilled with our general excellence awards for the Enterprise, Pilot-Tribune and Arlington Citizen.  Grant Eggers’ recognition as Young Journalist of the Year was very much deserved. I’m very proud of everyone."

Associate Publisher Chris Rhoades finished his term as president of One Press, formerly the Nebraska Press Advertising Service, on Saturday.
