Washington Street crash

One person was injured in a one-vehicle crash Thursday just after 6 p.m. near the intersection of Washington and 20th streets. 

The driver of a red sedan reportedly had a seizure before crashing into a tree Thursday night near the intersection of Washington and 20th streets, according to witnesses.

Blair police and Blair Fire and Rescue responded to the crash just after 6 p.m.

Sgt. Travis Lyon said the vehicle was initially westbound, but began spinning the vehicle in circles in the intersection.

“It looks like he did several of them,” Lyon said.

Marks were still visible on the street.

Blair police and Blair Fire and Rescue responded to a one-vehicle accident near the intersection of Washington and 20th streets just after 6 p.m. Thursday in Blair.

Initially, Lyon said it is unclear if the driver simply lost control, causing him to hit a tree in the yard of a home at 1965 Washington St. or if he intentionally hit the tree.

Upon further investigation, it was discovered the man had a seizure, causing the crash, according to Capt. Aaron Barrow.

The driver was transported to Memorial Community Hospital and Health System with unknown injuries. A medical helicopter was dispatched to the hospital. He was later transported to an Omaha hospital.

The accident remains under investigation. Look for updates online and in Tuesday's Pilot-Tribune.
