Grain bin fire

Blair firefighters cut a hole in the roof of a grain bin while fighting a fire Wednesday at 5960 County Road 15 near Arlington.

The Blair Volunteer Fire Department used its aerial truck to gain access to the top of the grain bin. Blair Fire Chief Joe Leonard said the bin was half full of alfalfa. A portion of the bin was cut to allow more ventilation.

Leonard said it took about 2 1/2 hours to extinguish the fire.
