A Blair man accused of allegedly assaulting a woman in front of her children accepted a plea agreement March 5 in Washington County District Court.

Raymond F. Pedrick, 48, pleaded no contest to the amended charge of child abuse, a Class 1 misdemeanor. As part of the agreement a second charge was dismissed.

The state will not object to probation, Chief Deputy County Attorney Erik Petersen said.

Judge John E. Samson ordered a presentence investigation. Sentencing is set for May 14.

According to the arrest affidavit, Blair police took a report of an assault from the victim at approximately 11:54 p.m. Aug. 21 at the police station.

The woman said Pedrick had physically assaulted her, choking her with his hands, physically restrained her arms and hands and hit her in the right eye. Officers observed red marks on the woman's neck, her right forearm, as well as bruising above her right eye and above the right side of her lip.

The victim was checked by Blair Rescue, but refused transport to the hospital.

Pedrick was arrested at his residence at 1 Longview Drive and transported to the Washington County Jail. According to the report, Pedrick admitted to being involved in a physical altercation with the victim.
