Investigators with the Nebraska State Fire Marshal's office have arrested a Blair man on suspicion of second-degree arson in connection with a house fire at 1253 Park St. in Blair on April 24.

Cory English, 37, was arrested Wednesday and booked into the Washington County Jail, where he remained Thursday. English is the owner of the home, according to the county assessor's website.

Firefighters from Blair and Kennard were dispatched to the house just east of North School around 4:22 a.m. April 24.

When he arrived on scene, Blair Fire Chief Joe Leonard said there was heavy smoke coming from the front and rear of the one-story house.

A State Fire Marshal Investigator was later called to determine the origin and cause.

There were no reported injuries.

Blair police, Black Hills Energy and the Omaha Public Power District were also on scene.

The fire remains under investigation, a press release from the fire marshal's office said.
