Three people were arrested following an investigation for a theft Dec. 7 at Walmart in Blair.
Jamie R. Von Hagel, 37, and Brooke Hagen, 35, are charged with possession of a controlled substance-methamphetamine, a Class 4 felony; and attempted theft, a Class 3 misdemeanor.
William Sisemore, 32, is charged with possession of a controlled substance-methamphetamine and theft by unlawful taking, $0-$500, a Class 2 misdemeanor.
According to arrest affidavits, Blair police were dispatched to Walmart, 1882 Holly Street, at approximately 1:11 a.m. for a theft in progress.
When officers arrived, Sisemore was found sitting in a silver Chevrolet Tahoe, which was registered to Hagen. A store employee told officers the man had walked out of the store with a backpack.
Sisemore told the officers he had paid for the backpack and provided a receipt, which showed a price of 23 cents and tax for a total of 25 cents.
The store manager told police the item scanned for the price was a cloth felt material and not the backpack.
During the investigation, Walmart employees found several opened or empty packages in the store. Officers searched the vehicle and found more items stolen from Walmart. Another backpack found contained plastic tub of a crystal substance, which tested positive for meth. Also found was a tub of marijuana and a scale.
Officers also detained Von Hagel and Hagen in the store. It was determined all three had driven from Sioux City, Iowa, to Blair. During another search of the vehicle, officers found a glasses case in the center console, which contained a glass pipe with a white powdery residue. They also found two marijuana pipes.
Beneath the front seat of the vehicle, officers found a purse. Inside of the purse was a multi-colored bag with three Ziploc bags inside. One contained 4 grams of meth. The other two had a white powdery residue.
Sisemore, Hagen and Von Hagel were transported to the Washington County Jail. When a corrections officer searched Von Hagel, 1 gram of meth was found in his jeans pocket.
