She was involved with the Blair Community Theatre, Omaha Community Playhouse, Theatre Arts Guild, Papillion LaVista Community Theatre, Lofte Community Theatre and many school theater programs whether serving on the board, acting, singing, dancing, sewing costumes, or finding properties and helping with sets. Sheila worked as a school bus driver, daycare provider, and seamstress before becoming the secretary to the Washington County Attorney, later to the president of Dana College and next in Cardiology at UNMC. She retired from Mutual of Omaha Creative Services in 1993 moving to Papillion soon after. There she played the piano at many nursing homes, knitted prayer shawls for St Columbkille Parish, continued sewing and was a founding member of the Papillion Burger Belles.
