A Fremont man was life flighted to Creighton University Medical Center with serious injuries after a motorcycle-car accident late Wednesday, Aug. 21, on Highway 75 south of Blair.
Matthew D. Scigo, 31, of Fremont was transported by the Blair Rescue Squad to Memorial Community Hospital after the accident on Highway 75 and County Road P37, about halfway between Blair and the Fort Calhoun Nuclear Station. Scigo was then flown by helicopter to Creighton.
Washington County sheriff's deputies Richard Hiles and Cody Peters responded to the accident about 11:50 p.m. and found people stopped at the scene to render aid to an unresponsive man lying on the highway.
The report said Scigo was riding a 2003 Harley Davidson south on Highway 75 when a 2002 Ford Escort driven by Dillon M. Ragan, 18, of Fort Calhoun turned north onto the highway from P37, in front of the motorcycle.
The car attempted to stop and the motorcycle struck the car's rear driver side bumper before continuing across the northbound lane into some trees on the east side of the highway, the report said.
Ragan appeared to be uninjured and was alone in the car.
Scigo was wearing a motorcycle helmet.
The accident investigation is continuing, Capt. Kevin Willis said.
