SUV hits tree on N-31

One person was transported to Memorial Community Hospital & Health System in Blair after sustaining minor injuries when her SUV hit a tree next to state Highway 31 late Tuesday morning. According to Deputy Brian Lundgren of the Washington County Sheriff's Office, a garbage truck driver may have swerved to avoid the SUV, which had Burt County license plates, and the SUV left the highway and hit the tree. The garbage truck driver gave a statement and was released. Kennard Rescue responded and Bennington Rescue provided mutual aid. This story will be updated when more information is available.
